Photo Details / Download Hi-Res WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Airman & Family Readiness Center has a new moniker, but Wright-Patterson Air Force Base personnel can rest assured the newly rebranded facility still provides the same-quality services and support. Lt. Gen. Caroline Miller, the Air Force’s deputy chief of staff for Manpower, Personnel and Services, signed a memorandum July 12, officially changing the name of every Airman & Family Readiness Center to Military & Family Readiness Center. With the establishment of the Space Force, and additional consideration for joint base environments, the name change is the beginning of improving inclusivity and alignment in military and family readiness services delivered by current Air Force operating environments, according to the memorandum. But the name change has no impact on Military & Family Readiness Center programming at Wright-Patt. “All our programs and educational classes will still be available,” said Shonte Gonzalez, community readiness consultant, Transition Assistance Program and Employment Program manager at WPAFB’s Military & Family Readiness Center. “The name change does not affect services at Wright-Patterson. It makes it more inclusive for our Guardians and Airmen plus any other visiting service members from other military branches. We work to serve all military and provide a work-life balance to their lives. We will still have the same hours, same programs and same service with our units, families, military and civilians.” At Wright-Patt, the Military & Family Readiness Center is part of the 88th Force Support Squadron and supports individuals, families and leadership with programs and services to strengthen communities, encourage self-sufficiency, enhance mission readiness and ease adaptation to the Air Force way of life. The center serves single Airmen, couples and families. Services are provided to military members of all branches, Department of Defense employees and their families. Most are available on a walk-in basis or just a phone call away, according to Gonzalez. If it has anything to do with your family’s readiness, MFRC has a point of contact ready for you.
