WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Capt. Keane Fink is a dentist with the 88th Dental Squadron, assigned to Advanced Education of General Dentistry as a 1-year dental resident. Though it might sound corny saying, “he was born to be a dentist,” it’s not too far from the truth.

Fink’s father, Dr. Richard Fink, who is also a dentist and owner of Fink Dental Clinic in his hometown of Sidney, Montana, served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy. His father went to dental school at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.

“My father was in the Navy for three years and deployed to Desert Storm during his service,” said Fink. “He commissioned me as a lieutenant in 2014, before I went to dental school at the University of Colorado.”

He went on to explain that when he was promoted to the rank of captain in May 2018, his father once again performed the ceremony and pinned on his new rank.

Once Fink’s 1-year residency here is completed, he will go to Andersen AFB in Guam for three years.

Another dentist in the family is his cousin by marriage, Capt. Erin Fink. “She served in the Air Force for five years after dental school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and her residency was completed at Travis AFB, California.”

“After she served five years, four of them at Spangdahlem, Germany. She is now a civilian, working at my dad’s dental clinic as a general dentist.”

His other family members who work at the family dental clinic are his mother, Rhonda Fink, the manager of their family dental clinic and his sister, MaKayla Donahue who is a hygienist. Dentistry for the Finks is truly a family affair.
