James Webb Space Telescope

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope sits inside Chamber A at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston after completing its cryogenic testing Nov. 18, 2017. This marked the telescope’s final cryogenic testing, and it ensured the observatory is ready for the frigid, airless environment of space. The telescope’s shipping container, known as the Space Telescope Transporter for Air, Road and Sea (STTARS), was certified safe for flight by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Air Transportability Test Loading Activity May 15, 2014.
