Erica Luke is using her finger as a visual reference point for the student, A1C James Jackson, Aerospace and Operational Physiology Technician, to focus on when being spun slowly in the Barany chair. She is showing A1C Jackson a spatial disorientation that he could encounter if he was flying a plane. This spatial disorientation is call nystagmus.
