CFC Chairman: Don't let go of enthusiasm to serve others Published Jan. 15, 2007 By Jim McGinley Miami Valley Combined Federal Campaign chairman WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, OHIO -- -- The 2006 Miami Valley Combined Federal Campaign came to a close in December with our rousing recognition breakfast at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center. Representatives from many federal organizations, along with several Wright-Patterson AFB and Miami Valley leaders, came together to celebrate the outstanding efforts of teams and individuals who have been working hard all year to make the CFC a huge success. This year's campaign achieved yet another great success by raising close to $3 million through your generosity, 116 percent of this year's goal. More than 8,800 federal employees contributed more than $2,999,456 -- and still counting -- to a whole host of local, national and international charities. Our people continue to give generously to the causes that mean the most to them, an amazing feat considering the numerous daily and economic pressures we each face at home and in the workplace. This year's results are a wonderful tribute to our civilian and military workforce, and we should be very proud of everything we've done to help people from all walks of life. Looking back on the past year as the CFC chairman, I'm filled with a deep appreciation for those who contributed and to the many folks who have given their time and energy to make last year a success. My vice chairman, Manuel Gomez, and his assistant, Janet Sweeney, organized a great kick-off event. Jacqueline Rice and Valeria McDaniel, who administer the Miami Valley campaign, do an unbelievable job and have my undying gratitude for their hard work and dedication. Our loaned executives, Sandra Oswald and Lt. Col. Kimberly E. Daeger, did tremendous work in covering the training and solicitation support. And a very special thanks goes to my assistant, Amie Flax, who did an outstanding job keeping me on track with all the important CFC documentation and for making my ideas a reality for this year's campaign. I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to work with so many loyal, dedicated people and the chance to bring the entire Miami Valley federal workforce together in an effort to support the organizations who give people the promise of a real hope for a better like, just like our guest speaker at the recognition breakfast, Arlene Jones, who received support from a CFC organization. My sincere thanks again to all of you who contributed to the CFC this year. You've made a difference in so many people's lives. Don't ever let go of your enthusiasm to serve others.
