AFMC mom, daughter run half marathon

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFMCNS) -- Having just completed the 11th annual U.S. Air Force Marathon's half-marathon race on Saturday, Barbara A. Westgate, Air Force Materiel Command executive director, places a finisher's medal around her daughter, Beth Smith. In turn, Ms. Smith awarded her mother with her own medal. Mrs. Westgate dedicated herself to a 42-week program to train specifically for the race. In the process, she lost 44 pounds, and realized her rededication to wellness. (Al Bright/U.S. Air Force)

Air Force lieutenant takes top marathon honors

2nd. Lt. Karissa Goodrich, from Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, celebrates her victory as the first overall female in the full marathon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio on Sept. 15.
