ESFS inspections allow safe, sound base security

Senior Airman Steven Slocum, 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron security forces member deployed here from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, lubricates a nasopharyngeal airway before inserting it into the nasal passage of a fellow Combat Life Saver Course student here March 2. Performing an NPA was a skill required for course students to receive their CLS certification. Students were required to both administer and receive an NPA on each other. Once CLS-certified, servicemembers are trained to provide immediate care, administer IV fluids to control shock, and perform needle chest decompression for a casualty with tension pneumothorax.
