Air Force civilians honored

Spencer following an awards ceremony Oct. 21 in the Pentagon where Mr. Zelnio and Ms. Spencer were honored. Mr. Zelnio received the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Civilian Service for his work as senior electrical engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Silver Delegation

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFMCNS) — Dr. Steve Butler pauses with Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition Sue Payton and Gen. Bruce Carlson, commander of Air Force Materiel Command, after Ms. Payton presented Dr. Butler with a Probationary Silver Delegation for the Acquisition of Services certificate. The presentation, which took place here Oct. 21, follows an August agreement between AFMC and the Air Force Program Executive Office for Combat and Mission Support, commonly called PEO Services. The agreement established Dr. Butler, AFMC’s Executive Director, as the command’s Services Advocate and delegated management and oversight authority of services contracts between $100 million and $500 million to AFMC. The command stood up a multi-functional services team to support Dr. Butler. The team is collaborating with PEO Services to streamline the critical processes necessary to execute the authority. Team members will visit AFMC’s air logistics centers in November to deploy initial procedures. The team will host a services workshop in December for the requirements and acquisition community. 386th ECONS

SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Master Sgt. Craig McClain, a contracting specialist with the 386th Expeditionary Contracting Squadron, checks out the status of the base water tanks on Oct. 15 at a base in Southwest Asia. The 386th ECONS recently procured new water tanks for the base which will last twice as long as the current ones installed. The mission of the 386th ECONS is to provide superior acquisition support to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing and associated units quickly, legally, and effectively. WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio – Ms. Melodie Homer cuts the ceremonial ribbon during the Operations Building dedication Oct. 4, 2008, at the 445th Airlift Wing.
