WPAFB air traffic controller named best in command

Staff. Sgt Erin Baugh, an air traffic controller with the 88th Operations Support Squadron at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, was named Air Force Materiel Command Air Traffic Control Watch Supervisor of the Year for 2008. Segeant Baugh, originally from Zelienople, Pa., recently returned from a six-month deployment to Iraq where she worked air traffic at Baghdad International Airport. JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq ? Senior Airman Steven Slocum, 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron security forces member deployed here from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, lubricates a nasopharyngeal airway before inserting it into the nasal passage of a fellow Combat Life Saver Course student here March 2. Performing an NPA was a skill required for course students to receive their CLS certification. Students were required to both administer and receive an NPA on each other. Once CLS-certified, servicemembers are trained to provide immediate care, administer IV fluids to control shock, and perform needle chest decompression for a casualty with tension pneumothorax.
