Wright-Patterson Air Force Base firefighters perform technical decontamination on a first responder wearing a Level-A hazardous materials suit during a base exercise Aug. 4, 2011. The scenario, one of several played out during the week, included suspected release of a toxic substance following an explosion at the Jarvis Gymnasium. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Fisher House will be held April 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. Those with base access are welcome to attend the ceremony. A shuttle service will be provided from the Arnold House parking lot at 9 a.m. There will be no parking available at the Fisher House. The 10,000 square-foot Fisher House replaces the Nightingale House, and it was officially opened on April 15. It has 12 bedrooms and 12 ½ handicapped-accessible and ADA compliant bathrooms. Wright B reenacts historic flight

A lookalike Wright “B” Flyer climbs over Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio during a Oct. 2, 2010 reenactment of the world’s first cargo flight. The original flight took place Nov. 7, 1910, and was made by Wright Company pilot Phil Parmelee from Huffman Prairie Flying Field (now part of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) to Columbus.
