 
Propulsion Researchers Earn C-130J Team Award
An Air Force Research Laboratory Propulsion Directorate team earned the Aeronautical Systems Center's 2nd Quarter C-130J Joint Rapid Action Team Award for efforts towards a timely and successful diagnostics and testing process that ultimately determined the cause of wiring burn-through and cabin smoke associated with the pictured C-130J lighting system transformers.

AFRL Sensors Scientist Earns Air Force Science and Engineering Award
Dr. Boris Tomasic, of the Air Force Research Laboratory's Sensors Directorate, earned the 2009 Air Force Science and Engineering Award for Exploratory or Advanced Technology Development. Lynx Aerodynamic Design Tested in AFRL Wind Tunnel

Ultra-High-Purity Synthesis Improves Nanotube Materials
A cross-sectional, transmission electron micrograph view of a silicon carbide wafer after it underwent ultra-high-purity synthesis.
The platinum protective cap is applied to preserve the sample surface during TEM preparation.
The vertically aligned multiwall nanotubes form into the sample surface and have nominal diameters of 20 nm.
