Mission Statement

Conducts advanced development field and flight test demonstrations of platform specific sensors and of functionally integrated sensor suites for air/space vehicles. Provides risk reduction studies, analyses, simulation, and evaluation of offensive, defensive, navigation/identification and surveillance/reconnaissance sensor technology. Serves as the Directorate's primary interface to the warfighter, Technology Planning Integrated Product Teams (TPIPTs), AF Battlelabs, Munitions Directorate and the Information Applications and Demonstrations Division of the Information Directorate.

Mission Statement

Identifies and understands national defense requirements in order to supply the Sensors Directorate leadership with timely, relevant information for planning and decision-making. Facilitates warfighter awareness and understanding of the potential that Sensors Directorate technologies hold. Provides support and guidance to project managers to ensure successful technology application and transition. Fosters inter-organizational, cross-disciplinary collaboration to develop innovative technology solutions. Rapidly responds to urgent warfighter operational needs with demonstrated and accepted technology solutions.

Mission Statement

Conducts and manages advanced capability demonstrations and other high-priority programs leveraging emerging sensor technology for reconnaissance, strike and combat identification applications. Teams with RY tech divisions, AFRL Directorates, MAJCOMs and Product Centers to enable timely transition of affordable advanced sensor technologies to current and future operational weapon systems. Serves as RY focal point for developing integrated sensor systems, and techniques for identifying ground and air targets.
