RI Core Technical Competencies (CTC)

RI Programs are organized and planned by CTC. Our seven core technical competencies provide technologies to translate sensed data to actionable knowledge.

Advanced Computing Architectures: Explores computer architectures with greater speed, storage, sophistication and openness for addressing dynamic objectives. This includes the interplay of computational models, hardware, and software. Advanced Computing Architectures support the processing and storage requirements of all the other CTCs.

Command and Control: Provides decision-support capabilities to the warfighter in order to rapidly accomplish the mission. This CTC brings all of the other CTCs' information to bear to enable military decisions.

Connectivity: Enables seamless ground, air, and space communication to ensure the warfighter's information is available all the time, everywhere. Provides assured world-wide protected communications, and timely information access. This CTC ensures that the data we need gets to where it is needed.

Cyber Operations: Provides a superior defense of the United States' critical information infrastructure. This includes protecting our own assets, detecting intruders and anomalous conditions, denying intruders, analyzing and correlating events to understand sources and intent, and properly responding to malicious intrusion.

Information Exploitation: Allows information dominance through the research and development of advanced technologies which intercept, locate and process raw data from different collection sensors. These technologies improve signal, image, and measurement collection capabilities. The work from this CTC extracts meaningful patterns from the massive amount of raw data that it collects.

Information Fusion and Understanding: This CTC allows decision-makers to "connect the dots" between global concerns and events; allowing them to make the best possible decision.

Information Management: Provides universal access to information in a tailorable orchestrated environment. This allows users to find and obtain information in the right format and level of granularity in time. This CTC ensures that the information discovered via our other CTCs gets into the right hands so they can make a swift, effective decision.
