Effective 10 July 2012, the student employment hiring authority transitioned from the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) and the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) to the Pathways Internship Program.

Pathways provides Federal employment opportunities to students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment as degree seeking students taking at least a half-time academic, technical, or vocational course load in an accredited high school, technical, vocational, 2 or 4 year college or university, graduate or professional school. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service. Additional information about the Internship Program can be found at www.usajobs.gov/studentsandgrads/.

Under Pathways, all job openings for Interns must be announced on USAjobs.gov. The Student Employment Office is no longer permitted to collect resumes and transcripts for interested applicants. Because the Pathways Internship Program is new, it may take some time before job opportunities become available. We encourage you to visit www.usajobs.gov periodically for job announcements.

Wright Patterson Air Force Base may hire Interns on a temporary basis for up to one year for an initial period, or for an indefinite period, while the Intern completes his/her educational requirements. These employment opportunities need not necessarily be related to your academic field of study.

Eligibility Requirements:
-A student enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student (diploma, certificate, etc.), and

-At least the minimum age required by Federal, state or local laws and standards governing the employment of minors, 16 years of age, and

-Taking at least half-time academic or vocational and technical course load in an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school, and

- Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0. You must maintain this GPA while participating in the program and provide copies of your grade reports after each grading period.

The Pathways Internship Program offers students valuable work experience. It provides formal periods of work and study while you are attending school. It requires a commitment by you and the employing Federal agency, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. You may be eligible for permanent employment under this program after successfully completing your education and meeting work requirements. U.S. citizenship is required for conversion to permanent employment under this program.
