Staff and functional offices within AFLCMC report to the commander or vice commander. Unlike execution directorates which perform operational or execution functions, the staff and functional offices provide center senior functional or organizational senior functional workforce development and management responsibilities in support of the commander's organize, train and equip mission. Some of the AFLCMC functional directors are dual-hatted and also lead execution directorates. The AFLCMC staff and functional offices, with their associated office symbols are:
