Serves as the technical authority for the AFMETCAL Program. Performs metrology engineering in support of the Group, PMELs and Air Force equipment users. Reviews technical characteristics of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) and determines calibration responsibility. Provides metrology technical and engineering services to operating commands and AFMC centers and laboratories to resolve metrology problems and to develop or improve calibration techniques. Serves as the technical content manager for Air Force calibration procedures. Identifies the need for and prepares acquisition specifications for AFPSL and PMEL calibration standards to ensure calibration standards are available to meet AFPSL and PMEL requirements and ensure measurement traceability. Participates with Army, Navy and NIST personnel in the Calibration Coordination Group to pursue the development of new measurement standards and techniques needed to ensure compliance with Air Force mission requirements.
