General. The public has a right to information concerning the activities of the Government. The FOIA is a federal law that establishes this right. FOIA requests can be made for any reason and requesters do not have to justify their request(s). Any person can file a FOIA request including foreign nationals, organizations, universities, corporations, state and local governments. Requestors must provide an adequate description of the desired record(s).
Submitting Requests. All requests submitted under the FOIA must be in writing, the documentation you are requesting must be properly described, and your request must contain a statement that you are willing to reimburse the government if there are any charges for processing your request. All requests submitted to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base must be in compliance with these requirements
Your request will be logged and a tracking number assigned to it. The tracking number assigned is of great importance to you as a requester because, in the event you would like to check the status of your request, the number enables us to locate where your request is in the process.
