This program review, to be held at 950 Glebe Road, Suite 210, in Arlington, Virginia, will be the 55th formally designated annual assessment of AFOSR’s research portfolio. Scientists use metamaterial to compress light
Air Force Office of Scientific Research-funded scientists at the University of California at Berkeley fabricated a new type of metamaterial that bends light backwards, in a way that does not exist in nature. Such metamaterial compresses light into tighter spaces and improves optical communication, computation and detection, and camouflage capabilities. (U.S. Air Force Graphic)
