Unique “fingerprint” of an artificial atom’s energy-level structure.
Amplitude spectroscopy generates a unique “fingerprint” of an artificial atom’s energy-level structure. This fingerprint comprises quantum interference patterns that form an energy landscape in the space of flux and microwave field amplitude. The peaks and valleys of this landscape take the shape of diamonds and, like a fingerprint, provide a unique snapshot of the atom’s energy-level structure (image courtesy of S.O. Valenzuela and W.D.
