Aeromedical Care Advanced by Fuel-Cell-Powered System
AFRL is testing this Portable Electronic Power Supply for Aeromedical Evacuation (PEPSAE) system as an alternative to problematic avionic frequency converters. It is a small, high-power, zero-emissions system designed to provide continuous, long-duration power for individual patients throughout their transport from field hospital to aircraft to base facility and it does not rely on aircraft power to do so.

First-Ever Airfoil Profile of In-Flight Bird May Inspire Future MAV Concepts
Three-dimensional mapping derived from stereo-vision images taken of the bird’s wing produced the first-ever measurement of a live bird’s wing airfoil profile while in unrestrained flight. These results will aid efforts to understand the morphing that occurs during flight maneuvers—which, in turn, will benefit development of tomorrow’s MAVs.
