KITTYHAWK PHARMACY

General Hours
The Kittyhawk Pharmacy is Open 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Monday - Friday.

Location
The Kittyhawk Pharmacy is located next to the Wright-Patterson Commissary.

Pickup Options
The Kittyhawk Pharmacy has three options for refill pick up. You can pick up your refills either inside the pharmacy, outside the pharmacy at the drive-thru window, or inside the commissary near the frozen food section.

If your Wright-Patterson Medical Center doctor has entered a new or renewal prescription, you must activate this prescription by coming into the pharmacy and pulling a ticket before it will be filled.

Closures
The Kittyhawk Pharmacy is closed weekends, holidays and all AFMC Family Days.  The Pharmacy is closed for training the first Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  If the installation is closed by the installation commander during inclement weather, the Kittyhaw Pharmacy is also closed.

Filling Prescriptions
The Kittyhawk Pharmacy will fill new prescriptions from off-base providers who are authorized by law to prescribe medications. They will also fill all refills originating from a Wright Patterson Medical Center Pharmacy.

Prescriptions written by Off-Base Providers Must:
* Be typed, or written in ink and contain the providers DEA number, address, and phone number. 
* Prescriptions for Schedule II controlled drugs must be written on a separate form from Schedule III, IV and V controlled drugs.
* Must not prescribe controlled medications on the same prescription as non-controlled drugs.

Patient Counseling
The Kittyhawk Pharmacy provides one hundred percent counseling to all patients concerning their medications. If you are experiencing side effects, or your medication does not appear to be effective please ask to speak to one of our pharmacists. Our pharmacists will be more than happy to provide one-on-one counseling with you concerning your medications and their effectiveness.

Reminder
Always follow the directions on the prescription label precisely. If you have any questions concerning the directions ask a pharmacist or technician for clarification.

Outpatient Prescription Refill Procedures
* All refill requests must be called in to the pharmacy's automated refill request line at (937) 257-9016.
* Refills called in will be ready for pickup within 2 duty days.
* Any medication that has been refilled or activated and not picked up within seven calendar days will be considered non-compliant, returned to stock and will need to be reactivated by the patient in person at the Kittyhawk Pharmacy.

e-Rx (aka e-Prescribing)
* The Kittyhawk Pharmacy accepts electronic prescriptions from off-base providers .
* To expedite processing of your prescriptions, please let your provider know that our formulary is available online

The Outpatient Pharmacy is Open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Monday - Friday.
 
Filling Prescriptions 
The Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy will accept prescriptions from our Wright-Patterson Medical Center doctors, dentists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

Patient Counseling
The Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy provides one hundred percent counseling to all patients concerning their medications. If you are experiencing side effects, or your medication does not appear to be effective please ask to speak with one of our pharmacists. Our pharmacists will be more than happy to provide one-on-one counseling with you concerning your medications and their effectiveness.

* Refills called in before 4 p.m. will be ready for pickup the following day. NOTE: Holidays will delay refill pickup by one duty day.

INPATIENT PHARMACY  

The Inpatient Pharmacy is located inside Wright-Patterson Medical Center and operates 24x7. Please note that outpatient prescriptions are not filled at the Inpatient Pharmacy.

Drug Use Evaluation
Pharmacy staff monitor patients to ensure the drug dosage is appropriate. They examine laboratory reports regarding renal and hepatic function to identify areas of concern and then make recommendations to physicians for dosage adjustments if necessary.

Adverse Drug Reactions
Pharmacist also monitor drug orders to minimize the chances of a patient experiencing adverse drug reactions during hospitalization.

Drug Interactions
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians use a computerized program to help them screen for potential drug interactions that may be harmful, prolong hospitalization or worsen a patients medical condition.

Discharge Counseling
Pharmacists provide medication counseling to patients prior to discharge from the Medical Center. Medication counseling provides the patient with the information they need to effectively manage their health outside of the hospital. Information is provided on the proper use of the medication, possible side effects and interactions.

Medication Distribution
The Pharmacy uses automated technology (PYXIS®) to stock many of the most frequently prescribed medications on the nursing units throughout the Medical Center. This service saves time for staff and enables patients to receive medications as quickly as possible. The advanced monitoring technology ensures the security of the medications.
