RTA Connect On-Demand service to Wright-Patt begins Feb. 18

Base personnel board an RTA bus on route X1A near the lodging office in Area A Jan. 31. As of Feb. 18, the RTA will begin providing transportation to and from the base through its RTA Connect On-Demand service, which means riders will still use the regular RTA buses to get to one of the RTA Connect transfer point locations, either at Wright State University on the Route 1 or at Old Harshman Road at Springfield Street on the Route 11. From there, a taxi provider or one of RTA’s other providers (an RTA driver with a smaller vehicle) will pick riders up at that location and then take them on base to the building they want to go to. Riders must call the RTA at (937) 425-8300 and select the RTA Connect On-Demand option to book directly with one of the approved providers. (U.S. Air Force photo/Lt. Weston Woodward)

Ruby Creek Training Area, North of Fairchild AFB. The 'isolated person' communicating on the Combat Survivor Evader Locator radio guides recovery to their location. The rescue asset was inbound and required additional authentication via means of a three-person tall, three-person wide pyramid. All of this was accomplished on a navigation day in survival training. Featured in the photo with students are SERE Specialists Tech. Sgt. Douglas Gassner, Staff Sgt. John Ware, and Staff Sgt. Ryan Torres.
2nd Lt. Brent Young, AFRL researcher and member of the Ejection Seat Survival Kit Enhancement, Modernization and Optimization team, tests a new and improved knife for the kit. Testing and consensus from the 22TRS and 336TRG will be determined and then recommended to the Air Force for inclusion in the survival kit.
