Graduate school unveils new 3D metal printer

Additive manufacturing processes are known for their ability to fabricate parts with complex geometries. Lattice structures, like the samples shown, leverage this ability to create parts with high strength-to-weight ratio and other desirable structural qualities. The Graduate School of Engineering and Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, unveiled its new 3D metal additive manufacturing system March 16.
