RQ-7 Shadow

An RQ-7 Shadow unmanned aerial vehical is equipped with the world's smallest synthetic aperture radar for airborne improvised explosive device detection. The Counter-IED Branch team from Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., integrated four aircraft with a lightweight Ku band and ultra-wide, ultra-high frequency SAR, which will allow the system to provide threat detection capabilities to dismounted troops and route clearance patrols.
