The Air Force Research Laboratory has been named the recipient of the 2015 Air Force Organizational Excellence Award. The AFOEA recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of U.S. Air Force organizations and activities

Created in 1969, this award is presented to Air Force internal organizations that are entities within larger organizations.  AFRL was commended for exceptionally meritorious service during the period of June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2015.

AFRL was also commended for teaming efficiently with other government, industry, and academic partners to double the annual budget to over $4 billion dollars per year and delivering solutions to complex technical challenges that resulted in state-of-the-art capabilities, which ultimately changed the face of warfare.

"Receiving this award truly demonstrates the extraordinary work that AFRL's people do each and every day to provide unique and revolutionary capabilities in support of the nation and our warfighters," said AFRL Commander, Maj. Gen. Tom Masiello.
