WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio --

Name and rank: Kristopher Grilley, GS-11

Duty title: Occupational safety specialist

Unit of assignment: Commander’s Action Group, 88th Air Base Wing

What do you do at Wright-Patt?

I am an occupation safety specialist for the 88th Air Base Wing Safety Office. I’m responsible for managing the Motorcycle Safety Program for the installation, tracking military ridings and ensuring riders are informed on all required trainings. I also manage the mishap program, tracking mishap investigation for the wing as well as for some tenant units.

Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and WPAFB?

As a member of the safety team at Wright-Patterson, I feel this job is important to not only this base but the Air Force as a whole, as safety is not only a commander’s responsibility but every employee’s as well. Part of my job is to ensure that every employee in the workspace knows about safety regulation, not only to stay compliant but also to inform them that safety is a tool for them to use to better protect themselves and their airmen. We make sure they are working in a hazard-free environment and give them the tools to succeed and stay safe.
