WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio - Masks now mandatory for indoor settings. New Defense Department guidance directs all personnel—service members, federal employees, onsite contractor employees and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask while indoors on installations or other DOD leased and controlled facilities.

Masks are not required in outdoor settings, regardless of vaccination status, for individuals who can safely maintain physical distancing. People actively working out in a gym setting, are also not required to wear a mask.

The updated DOD guidance is based on the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention community transmission classification for surrounding areas. Currently, three of the four surrounding counties are significant (Miami, Greene and Montgomery). Clark County is moderate.

Individuals in a single office/facility setting do not need to wear a mask until they have a visitor. All individuals who work in an office setting (cubicles) must wear their mask.

The installation remains at Health Protection Condition Alpha with no Public Health Emergency.
